Busy Last Day of Summer Transfer Window for Man Utd
There were multiple new arrivals and outgoings on the last day of Man Utd's 2023 transfer window in what ended up being one of Utd's busiest ever transfer deadline days
In recent years it feels like Man Utd had moved away from panic buys on the last of the transfer window (memories of Fellaini in 2013 and Falcao in 2014). But the last day of the summer 2023 transfer window was more hectic than usual with many arrivals and departures.
New Signings
As confirmed yesterday, Sergio Reguilon joins on a season long loan from Tottenham to provide cover for the injured Luke Shaw at left back.
Utd finally completed the signing of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, also on a season-long loan with an option to buy. Amrabat will give some much needed support to Utd’s central midfield which has struggled in the early games of the 2023/2024 season.
Altay Bayindir joins as 2nd choice goalkeeper. The 25-year-old Turkey international joins from Fenerbahce in a £4m deal and will provide cover for first choice goalkeeper Onana.
Perhaps the most unexpected signing of the summer is Jonny Evans who’s rejoined the club on a one-year deal. The defender joined on a temporary contract to maintain his fitness, but has impressed Ten Hag enough to secure a playing contract.
Departures
The late surprise of the day was Mason Greenwood joining Spanish club Getafe on a season long loan. This follows the announcement confirming he will no longer represent Man Utd.
Goalkeeper Dean Henderson has joined Crystal Palace in a deal that could rise to £20m. This means Utd’s goalkeeper department has completely transformed this season with first choice David de Gea leaving the club earlier in the summer.
Left back Alvaro Fernandez has joined La Liga side Granada on a season long loan.
Youngster Marc Jurado joins Espanyol on a permanent deal.
