Man Utd Agree Deal to Sign Rasmus Hojlund
Man Utd have reached an agreement to sign Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in a deal that could be worth up to £72m
Rasmus Hojlund became Erik Ten Hag’s third signing of the transfer window, joining Mason Mount and André Onana who’ve already joined the club this summer. The fee for the Danish attacker is an initial £64m and could increase by £8m with add-ons.
The 20 year old enjoyed a breakthrough debut season at Atalanta scoring 9 goals in 32 appearances. He leaves the club after only one year, providing Atalana with a healthy profit after joining them in a €17 million transfer from Sturm Graz last summer.
The Dane will add some much needed firepower to Man Utd’s goal-shy attack. The Red’s only scored 58 goals in the Premier League last season and were dependent on Marcus Rashford’s red-hot form to carry them into the top-four. The hope is that Hojlund will ease the burdon on Rashford and and add a new dimension to Utd’s attack.
Hojlund is by no means the finished article and is seen by Utd as a talent who can evolve into a future superstar under Ten Hag’s coaching. 20 goals from Hojlund would be seen as a successful season.
Despite late interest from PSG, Man Utd were the Dane’s only destination. As soon as he knew Utd were interested, there was only one club he wanted to join. He even changed talent agency to help push through the move.
